A screw conveyor is a mechanical device used to move bulk materials (like maize and wheat) from one point to another, typically in horizontal, inclined, or vertical directions. It’s widely used in the grain milling industry due to its simplicity, durability, and effectiveness in transporting granular or powdery materials. It consists of the following main parts:

• Helical screw blade (also called a “flight”) mounted on a shaft
• Tube or trough that houses the screw
• Drive mechanism (motor and gearbox)
• Inlet and outlet ports for loading and unloading material
